Italian pine is oldest dated tree in Europe at 1,230

Scientists have determined that a Heldreich’s pine growing in Italy is the oldest tree in Europe at roughly 1,230 years old. The age of the tree, dubbed Italus, was determined through ring analysis and radiocarbon dating.
